Movember Long Lunch

Posted by Vicki Baker, Oct 3, 2016

The temperature outside has dropped several degrees which means Movember, the month formally known as November, is imminent and Mo Bros around the country are preparing to flex their facial follicles in aid of men’s health.

Movember and I go way back. When three Aussies first came over from Australia to preach the gospel of the Mo (and to kick start what is now a global fundraising phenomenon) I was lucky enough to work with them on their end of month celebration – a bonkers costume party where people dressed to suit their mo and battled for the coveted title of Man of Movember. As the charity campaign grew rapidly in size I eventually became a permanent part of the family and spent a brilliant five years organising parties across the UK, Ireland and internationally. And it is such joy to continue to work together.

This time a year ago plans were well underway for the 7th annual Movember Long Lunch, a fundraising event that also happens to be a riotously fun afternoon out . Hosted by the superb St John’s Smithfield, after a long stint at OXO, this feast to end all feasts was paired with delicious wines from Mrs St John aka Trevor Guliver’s very own vineyard.

Styling was simple. Thistles in French water glasses, charcoal candles on Milagros tiles and place names stood between thick block ferrite magnets.

This reminiscing has got us excited for what the Long Lunch no.8 has to offer, hosted by the exquisitely beautiful Bronte on the 18th November.
